driving
along

driving along the highway,
passing all those in the byway
sun in my face and breeze in my hair, the skies are blue and clouds are fair.
these long drives in the open tops, thanks to all the pioneers
where will I be to see, without all those before me.
all the turns & twists, these ramps and exits
get me thinking about my life, making me wonder ... perhaps,
twists are but a part of life, with forks at every turn rife
at each of these we have our picks, hoping not to get a life of jinx.
despite the hidden setbacks, in spite the butterflies and cramps
we need to push forth with rigor, we need to persist with vigor.
to trudge forward, one must never look rearward
to always be in the top gear, that indeed is the breed so rare.
all the bikes & the buses, these trucks & the eighteen wheelers
dash past me like a flowing stream, making me ponder ... perhaps,
passing elements are but a fact of life, with something new at every mile
as in life we always have a choice, to let things be or overtake.
despite what comes or goes in our lives, life is but one major olympics
how we fare is not much on the others, but more on ourselves
to keep on staying the course, one must keep racing
to always have our fill, that indeed is a life fully lived. |
